First Distribution, the leading pan-African distributor for Cyber Security, Datacentre, Cloud, Surveillance and IoT Solutions, have entered into a partnership with Mimecast, to sell Mimecast managed services in South Africa and through Africa in collaboration with select managed service providers (MSP’s).
The partnership aims to reinforce FD’s value proposition of providing turnkey security solutions to the African market, based on top brands.
Mimecast specialises in helping to protect organisations from malicious activity, human error and technology failure.
The company has built an intentional and scalable design ideology that solves the number one cyberattack vector – email. The company continuously invests to thoughtfully integrate brand protection, security awareness training, web security, compliance and other essential capabilities.
First Distribution will initially offer the Mimecast Cloud Archive, Email Mail Security, Incident Response and Mailbox Continuity, says Brad Stein, General Manager: Cyber Security at First Distribution.
“We will offer these services to our reseller partners via First Distribution’s proprietary, own-built platform Licence Central and First for Cloud,” Stein adds.
He says First Distribution welcomes the Mimecast offerings as they round out the company’s security portfolio.
“Mimecast is a well-known brand in the security market, occupying the Gartner Magic Quadrant for most of their technologies, and their solutions tick all the boxes in terms of what First Distribution was looking for.”
First Distribution’s Africa-wide footprint, market-leading MSP delivery platforms, depth of security skills, and its business stability, were just some of the reasons why Mimecast decided to grow their existing relationship with FirstNet.
The Cyber Security team at First Distribution has completed training and certification in the Mimecast offerings, and is ready to take the services to market throughout the continent.
First Distribution’s initial target market is in the SME (small and medium enterprise) and mid-market space.
“There has been a lot of interest from our partners,” Stein says. “Mimecast is a world leader and, as it was founded and developed by South Africans, it is particularly well-known in the local market.”
The Mimecast solutions offered by First Distribution are Cloud Archive, Email Security, Email Incident Response and Mailbox Continuity.
